Overview
Book of Life is built by Automata Vista LLC. We believe your journal entries, reflections, and personal data belong to you alone. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
The short version: your entries stay on your device. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data. Ever.
Data We Collect
Book of Life collects and processes the following data:
- Voice entries: Your spoken reflections are transcribed using Deepgram Nova-3 speech-to-text. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored by Deepgram after transcription.
- Journal text: Your transcribed entries are stored locally on your device using Apple Core Data. They are not uploaded to our servers.
- Thread analysis: Entry text is sent to AI services (via Anthropic) for thread detection, wisdom card generation, and thread collision analysis. These services process your text but do not retain it after processing. Your entries are never used to train AI models.
- App usage data: We collect anonymous analytics (via Firebase Analytics) to understand how features are used. This data contains no personal content and cannot be linked to your journal entries.
- Subscription data: If you subscribe to the Constellation tier, payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information.
Data Storage
Your journal entries, threads, wisdom cards, and constellation data are stored locally on your device using Apple Core Data. We do not maintain a cloud copy of your personal content. This means your data is as secure as your device itself.
If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it. We recommend using Apple iCloud backups to protect your data.
Third-Party Services
Book of Life uses the following third-party services:
- Deepgram (Nova-3): Voice-to-text transcription. Audio is processed in real time and not retained.
- Anthropic Claude API: AI processing for thread detection and wisdom generation. Text is processed and not retained after the response is delivered.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): Anonymous usage analytics only. No personal content is transmitted.
- Apple StoreKit 2: Subscription management and payment processing. Handled entirely by Apple.
None of these services store your journal entries. None use your data to train AI models.

Your Rights
You have the right to:
